Twisted Roots

Glasgow-based An Dannsa Dub return with “Twisted Roots”, their third album, released on October 23 via La Tempesta Dub. Across nine tracks, producers and multi-instrumentalists Tom Spirals and Euan McLaughlin push their unique fusion of Scottish and Gaelic folk traditions, deep dub and soundsystem culture into exciting new territories.

Blending roots, steppas, dubstep and traditional instrumentation with influences from Appalachia, India and beyond, “Twisted Roots” is a global musical journey built on powerful basslines, hypnotic rhythms and cultural exchange. The album features an international cast of collaborators, including Marina P, Wends, Italee, MAL, Cahalen Morrison, Kaela Rowan and Sukanya.

The focus track, “Brave (Like A Girl)”, featuring Marina P and Wends, is a powerful celebration of strength, independence and self-determination.

Produced by An Dannsa Dub, mixed by Paolo Baldini DubFiles in Pordenone and mastered by Nick Manasseh in London, “Twisted Roots” takes the duo’s signature sound, “Future Dub from Ancient Scotland”, further than ever before.
